In all honesty, jet lag is a pain the buttocks.
I mean, you get excited about the idea of visiting spots once you arrive at your destination. Then, once you get there, your in bed… because of jetlag.
There are plenty of tips on how you can avoid jetlag, but here is my biggest secret for minimizing its effect.
The Circadian Rythm And Jetlag
Understanding why you get a jetlag is a key to minimizing its effects. So here it is…
Jetlag is caused by the un-synchronization between your body and the local day and night time frame. Hence, to quickly remedy or minimize the effects of jetlag, you would want to synchronize your body to the local day and night pattern as soon as possible. So how do you do that?
Your awake and sleep cycle are known as the circadian rhythm. In my experience, the best way to change your circadian rhythm to the local time as fast as possible is by controlling the time you eat.
Circadian rhythm is largely affected by daylight and your eating pattern. since it’s hard to control daylight, your best bet is to control your eating time.
So, in order to adapt your circadian rhythm to the local time as soon as possible is to eat at proper times. This means that even if you are sleepy or feeling tired, just eat at the right time. Use an alarm clock if you have to. Also, don’t eat anything in between the meals. This is to ensure that your body doesn’t get confused on what is the right eating time.
Control your eating pattern, and your sleep and awake pattern will naturally follow. In my experience, this is the fastest way of changing your circadian rhythm.
